Office of Policy and Compliance

Compliance

Welcome to the Compliance section of the Office of Policy and Compliance at CSU.

The compliance mission of the Office of Policy and Compliance (OPC) at CSU is to increase awareness of compliance risks and requirements; create a culture that supports compliance with the laws, rules, regulations and policies that govern the activities of the institution; and to help establish and maintain effective compliance programs within the University community.

The goals of the OPC Compliance Program at CSU include:

  • To identify specific compliance risks at CSU and assess the internal controls, mitigation strategies, and management structures in place to determine whether the compliance risk is being adequately managed;
  • To focus on those compliance risks that are not being adequately managed, assess the risks of non-compliance, and then apply resources, recommend actions, and monitor activities in order to achieve and maintain compliance; and
  • To communicate with University administrators, staff, faculty, students, external regulators, and other interested parties about compliance matters, and, when violations occur, about the responses to such violations.

These goals will be accomplished primarily through the University Compliance Committee (UCC), currently being formed under the leadership of the Vice President for University Operations. Bearing in mind that the focus of a compliance program is on legal risks–not operational ones–the VPUO will charge the UCC with responsibilities for creating and carrying out a University-wide compliance program.
